Captioned Images Series: I Want It Back

The elevator hummed softly as it descended, but Frank barely noticed. He pointed accusingly at what had once been his own body. His reflection stared back at him from the polished brass doors: the body of an elderly woman, dressed in a lilac floral-print dress, a matching hat perched neatly atop her gray hair, taupe pantyhose, and sensible shoes.
“You stole my body!” Frank screamed. “I want it back!”
The person wearing Frank’s former body merely scoffed. He—or rather, she—folded Frank’s arms across his chest and gave him an incredulous look. “Oh, please,” the stranger said. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
“That’s me!” Frank shouted, pointing at the familiar face. “That’s my face! Those are my clothes! That’s my body!”
The elevator continued its descent with maddening calm. The elderly woman’s hands trembled slightly as Frank gestured wildly, making the bracelets around her wrists jingle.
“You sound completely confused,” the stranger replied through Frank’s own voice. “I think you should calm down.”
“Calm down?” Frank stared at the reflection again. The floral dress swayed around his knees as he turned toward the doors. “I’m trapped in somebody else’s body!”
The stranger smiled smugly. “And I think you’re going to have to get used to it.”
The elevator bell suddenly chimed.
Frank looked at the floor indicator.
Then he looked at the stranger wearing his face.
